Tips For A Healthy Breast Augmentation Recovery

Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures that women will choose to have. It is a reasonably simple procedure and the surgery takes around 2 -3 hours. When you have a board-certified cosmetic surgeon, you can expect to have a clean and smooth recovery. Many who have this procedure will usually be back to work within 3 – 5 days if looked after and the guidelines are followed. This all depends on a range of different factors. In this article, we will go through some helpful tips for a smooth breast augmentation recovery.

Ensure You Have Help

Whilst the breast augmentation recovery is not hard, you still have had surgery meaning you will still be sore. This is only the case for the first couple of days, but for the following 6 weeks, you should not be doing any heavy lifting at all. If you have children, it is worth having your partner or someone else babysitting as you won’t be able to lift anything above 20lbs. If you drive, then this should be put on hold until you have finished your pain relief medication as it will make you drowsy. For the first couple of days, it is best to have someone look after the house for you and to look after your children if you have them. This way you can ensure that no strain is put on the body for a smooth recovery.

Ask For Pain Management

When you go into any procedure, it is only normal that you are going to be sore immediately after the procedure. It is also common for patients to feel tight and have pressure around the chest area. Due to the discomfort only lasting a short time, the surgeon will prescribe you some pain killers for the first couple of days. After this, over the counter painkillers will work fine. A helpful tip for having the medication is to have your doctor prescribe them early so that you can have them ready for when you are home. This way, if you are hurting when you get home, you can take one straight away, rather than going to get them and possibly even waiting for the pharmacy to get the medication in.

Get Plenty Of Rest And Sleep

Sleep and rest is a great remedy for recovery, no matter if it is your procedure or even the common cold. Giving your body the rest it needs can help to speed up your recovery process. Some may find this easier than others due to other responsibilities which is why it is important to get help for the first couple of days. To make the resting period more comfortable, ensure you have plenty of pillows so that you prop yourself up to a comfortable position. If you have a tv in your bedroom then you may want to make sure you have plenty to watch, but if not, make sure you have books and magazines or even your laptop to keep you entertained.

As you can see these steps are pretty simple to follow. One final tip is to eat light and healthy meals and drink plenty of liquids to aid your recovery. This is the same for many of breast procedures including a breast lift. You may be sore for the first couple of days but once you have your surgical bra off, you will know it is all worth it.
